October 3, 1898
Originally the Department Law of the Boston YMCA’s Evening Institute for Young Men, it is located at 462 Boylston Street. The school first grants LLB degrees in 1904, moves to the current YMCA building on Huntington Avenue in 1912, and first admits women in 1923. It subsequently becomes part of Northeastern University, which formally separates from the YMCA in 1944. The school closes in 1956, then reopens in 1968.
